There was an interesting thing- it’s tough to prove, but I went to a bunch of libraries and was able to verify it. Searching the microfiche, I came across the New Zealand publication of JFK’s murder BEFORE it happened- somebody forgot about the international dateline- the report went out before it happened. I found it, printed it, but that was many many miles ago. You can make things disappear instantly online. Not the case with the old school stuff.

Normally, the steel isn’t even painted. They just put the fireproofing on the raw, unpainted steel. But, painting steel helps a hell of a lot with keeping it from rusting, if it’s exposed to the elements, like bridges and shit. They commonly have to sand blast and repaint steel on bridges. There was a case near where I live where they weren’t totally on top of conditions, the winds came up, and the bridge painting also drifted off and painted a bunch of cars- it was hilarious- if it wasn’t your car 🤣

Another note on painting steel- if you really want to do it right, you do it like they do car bodies. It’s enamel paint, and it’s baked, like in an oven, to get the paint to really hold. They don’t do that with things like bridges, though they probably should, the money and time factors make it unreasonable, not economic.
