The Composer [音乐家] (2019) dir. Xirzat Yahup

During the Soviet Union's Great Patriotic War, the legendary Chinese composer Xian Xinghai (played by Hu Jun) was in Moscow working on the post-production of the documentary "Yan'an and the Eighth Route Army." When the war suddenly broke out following the surprise invasion by Nazi Germany, he was left displaced and stranded, eventually making his way to Almaty, Xinjiang Province after an arduous journey. In this brutal environment of extreme cold and hunger, Xian was fortunately rescued by the Kazakh musician Bakhytzhan Baikadamov (played by Berik Aitzhanov). During this time, he composed classic works such as "The Sacred War" and "Amangeldy", and also revised and completed his masterpiece, the "Yellow River Cantata." He used his music to heal the suffering souls of the people in wartime and to inspire them in their fight against fascism.
