Killjoy's Exploits: History Channel: Battle For The Pacific [PS3, 2007] Part 2

KEP-12B/2: This is the second half of my primary playthrough of the History Channel's WW2-themed first person shooter, released on the PlayStation 3, XBOX 360 and PC. A secondary version of the game was issued onto the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Wii, but happens to be a completely separate game.

As I mentioned in the description for the first half, this is not a conventional shooter but an edutainment simulation designed to allow gamers of the era [& future] to experience the battles of the Pacific Theatre of WWII and hopefully learn about the experiences their grandfathers and soon-to-be great-grandfathers faced while fighting the relentless forces of the Imperial Japanese.

With regards to gameplay, the player has to remain within close proximity to their CO at all times and the campaign is strictly linear - no independent action is allowed.

The player is given a set of American issued weapons which have full ammo and this is always reset at the start of each successive level - as such the player very rarely gets a chance to restock on ammo, unless they want to switch to Japanese weaponry, of which pickups are constant.

While this version of the game is not quite good enough to qualify as a classic by any standards and even the PS2 version outclasses it, it still holds value as an educational shooter, plus it is extremely easy to beat this in one session as it is only about two hours long for a clean run...

Gameplay Recorded on a PlayStation 3 hooked up to a LG DBRH197 DVD Recorder, printed onto a DVD intermediate, then ripped onto an Acer Aspire 3 laptop & combined together using Openshot.

Player: Mile "The Killjoy" Sipka
