Jake Paul is heading into his fight with Gervonta “Tank” Davis with a clear size advantage, something that was obvious during their first faceoff on Monday.
In the lead-up to their November 14 showdown on Netflix, the two fighters exchanged verbal jabs on stage before squaring off — though it looked more like face-to-chest than face-to-face due to Paul’s eight-inch height edge over Davis, whose most recent bout was at 135 pounds.
Before the staredown, Nakisa Bidarian, CEO of Most Valuable Promotions, outlined the fight’s rules. The bout will take place in Miami at a maximum weight limit of 195 pounds, fought over 10 three-minute rounds. Both fighters will wear 12-ounce gloves. While the Florida Athletic Commission is sanctioning the event as an exhibition, three judges will still score the fight in case it goes the distance.
Although no official winner is typically declared in exhibitions, Paul and Davis are upping the stakes for this high-profile matchup streaming live on Netflix. Still, the result won’t appear on either fighter’s professional record.
This fight marks Paul’s latest spectacle following wins over 58-year-old Mike Tyson and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. For Davis, it’s a chance to rebound after a draw in his last outing against Lamont Roach — a rematch many expected before Davis chose to face Paul instead.
The two are set to meet again for another pre-fight press conference in Miami on Tuesday.
