Ice Begins Immigration Crackdown In Massachusetts. Operation Patriot 2.0

The Trump administration has launched Operation Patriot 2.0, an ICE crackdown in Massachusetts targeting what officials call “the worst criminal illegal aliens.” The Department of Homeland Security warned: “If you come here illegally and break our laws, we will hunt you down, arrest you, deport you, and you will never return.”

The operation began this week and is expected to last several weeks, according to sources. Officials also hinted at wider enforcement actions in other sanctuary cities, including Chicago, as immigration arrests rise nationwide.

DHS criticized Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, saying her sanctuary policies “harbor criminals” and put “public safety threats above law-abiding citizens.” The Justice Department also sued Boston to overturn its sanctuary law, the Boston Trust Act. Attorney General Pam Bondi called the city “one of the worst sanctuary offenders.”

Tom Homan, Trump’s border czar, vowed to “flood the zone” with ICE agents. Officials say the operation targets immigrants released from custody despite ICE detainers and will extend beyond Boston.

ICE has already conducted large operations in Massachusetts this year, arresting 370 people in March and nearly 1,500 in May.
