Big Nose Kate's Saloon Posters.

Big Nose Kate’s Saloon in Tombstone, Arizona is a living relic of the Wild West—once the Grand Hotel, it hosted legends like Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday. Today, it honors the fiery spirit of Mary Katherine Haroney, aka Big Nose Kate, a fearless frontier woman and Holliday’s companion.

Step into Big Nose Kate’s Saloon and you’re stepping into 1881 Tombstone, where scandal, grit, and ghost stories still linger in the air. Originally built as the Grand Hotel, it was the tallest building between St. Louis and San Francisco, boasting 50 guest rooms and a lavish dining hall that seated 150. It welcomed iconic figures of the Old West—Wyatt, Virgil, and Morgan Earp, Doc Holliday, and even the Clantons and McLaurys before the infamous Gunfight at the O.K. Corral.

The saloon is named after Mary Katherine Haroney, better known as Big Nose Kate. Born in Hungary in 1849, she was educated and multilingual, but chose the rough path of independence as a dance hall girl and prostitute. Her nickname? Some say it came from her prominent nose, others claim it was her nosy nature. Either way, she was tough, stubborn, and fiercely loyal—especially to Doc Holliday.

Today, the saloon is more than a bar—it’s a haunted landmark. Ghostly miners, brothel madams, and the mysterious “Swamper,” a silver-obsessed janitor who lived in the basement, are said to still roam the halls. With its vintage decor and nightly live music, Big Nose Kate’s Saloon keeps the spirit of the Wild West alive—rowdy, rebellious, and unforgettable.
