December 9, 1944. Pre-dawn.
The sea is black glass and diesel breath. Beneath it, U-862—a steel lung with 56 men inside—slides east, bow knifing toward a world no German submarine was supposed to touch. In the conning tower, Korvettenkapitän Heinrich Timm lowers his binoculars and listens. Nothing but the heartbeat of the boat. Nothing but destiny humming through the hull.
They will call it impossible. They will call it a myth. But on this night, a German U-boat is going to the Pacific.
