Exodus 4, ep. 110, Stepping into your divine calling!
Hi, I’m Sal Lopez Executive Director of Ozark Hunger Relief, I am doing this to hopefully find some sponsors (tax deductible donations) for an office in Prairie Grove, Ar. I have seen and fed many children who wander around here. I thought if I started a non-profit, the community would be happy to help. Nope! I’ve had nothing but suspicion, derision, denial, and was eventually ripped off for everything I had, by another food pantry. They offered to let me work with their food pantry, then when I delivered everything I had, they told me to they couldn’t let me in their office, but subsequently asked me for more of my money. It has been horribly depressing, but I will persevere and get this office open.
My vision is to be a community resource center, but the main goal is to feed hungry kids, whose parents are drug addicts, and/or alcoholics. I guess some are just poor. Anyway, I need help and will advertise for you, and have signs of acknowledgement for every donor, proportionate for the donation. Remember to try to stay positive, you can choose your state of mind, so I offer this advice: Philippians 4:8
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”
Anyway, this episode is on Exodus 4, Stepping into Your Divine Calling, Good morning, my friends! Come on, let’s lift our hands and give God some praise today! I’m so excited to be with you, because this chapter is all about God calling you to something bigger, something greater, something that’s going to stretch your faith and change your life! God’s got a purpose for you, and it’s not small—it’s extraordinary! So, get ready to receive a word that’s going to ignite your spirit and propel you into your destiny! Exodus 4 is where we see Moses, a man just like you and me, wrestling with God’s call on his life. He’s standing at a burning bush, hearing God’s voice, but he’s got doubts, fears, and excuses. Sound familiar? Maybe you’re facing a moment where God’s nudging you to step out, but you’re thinking, “I’m not ready, I’m not qualified, I can’t do this!” But let me tell you something: God doesn’t call the qualified—He qualifies the called! Let’s unpack this chapter and see how God’s power can transform your insecurities into a story of victory! God’s Call is Bigger Than Your Doubts In Exodus 4:1, Moses says, “What if they don’t believe me or listen to me?” He’s worried about what people will think, worried he’s not enough. Oh, I love how real Moses is here! He’s got a divine assignment to lead God’s people out of Egypt, but he’s focused on his limitations. Friends, can I tell you something? God’s not surprised by your doubts. He knows your fears, and He’s already got a plan to overcome them! Look at what God does in verses 2-5. He asks Moses, “What’s that in your hand?” Moses says, “A staff.” Just a stick, something ordinary. But when Moses obeys God and throws it down, it becomes a snake, and when he picks it up, it’s a staff again. God’s saying, “Moses, I can take what’s ordinary in your hand and do something extraordinary!” This reminds me of 1 Corinthians 1:27: “God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.” What’s in your hand today? Your talents, your experiences, even your struggles—God can use them all! You don’t need to be perfect; you just need to be willing. That job you feel unqualified for, that dream you’ve been afraid to pursue, that step of faith God’s asking you to take—trust Him! He’s going to take what you have and turn it into a miracle! God Equips You for the Journey Moses keeps pushing back in verse 10, saying, “I’m not eloquent. I’m slow of speech and tongue.” He’s focused on what he can’t do. But God’s response in verse 11 is so powerful: “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord?” God’s saying, “Moses, I made you. I know what you can do, and I’m with you!” This is such a beautiful reminder of Isaiah 41:10: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Friends, when God calls you, He doesn’t leave you to figure it out on your own. He equips you, He strengthens you, He goes with you! Maybe you feel inadequate, but God’s saying, “I’ve already put in you everything you need. Trust Me, and step out in faith!” The Power of Partnership In verses 14-16, Moses is still hesitant, so God gives him Aaron, his brother, to help him. I love this! God doesn’t just give you a calling—He gives you people to walk with you. He surrounds you with support, with encouragers, with partners in your purpose. Ecclesiastes 4:9 says, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor.” Don’t try to do life alone. God’s placed people around you to lift you up, to speak into your life, to help you carry the load. That’s why we’re here together today! You’re not in this by yourself. Maybe it’s a friend, a family member, or someone in your church community—God’s saying, “I’ve got your back, and I’ve given you a team to help you fulfill your calling!” Obedience Unlocks the Miracle By the end of Exodus 4, Moses finally says yes to God’s call. He takes his staff, his family, and heads to Egypt, trusting God’s promise. And you know what happens? God uses him to perform miracles, to confront Pharaoh, and to lead a nation to freedom! Friends, your obedience is the key that unlocks the miracle. When you say yes to God, even with your doubts, even with your fears, you’re opening the door to blessings you can’t even imagine! Philippians 1:6 says, “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” God’s not going to call you to something and then abandon you. He’s going to finish what He started! That dream in your heart, that step of faith you’re nervous about—God’s already gone ahead of you. He’s preparing the way, opening doors, and making miracles happen! Living Your Calling Today So, what does Exodus 4 mean for you right now? It means God’s calling you to something greater than you can see. It means your limitations are no match for His power. It means you don’t have to have it all figured out—you just have to take the next step. Psalm 37:23 says, “The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him.” I want to encourage you today: don’t let fear hold you back. Don’t let your past, your insecurities, or what other people think stop you from stepping into your divine calling. God’s saying, “I’ve chosen you. I’ve equipped you. I’m with you.” So, pick up your staff—whatever’s in your hand—and trust God to do something extraordinary! Let’s pray together: Heavenly Father, thank You for calling us to a purpose that’s bigger than our fears. Thank You for equipping us, for surrounding us with Your strength and Your people. Help us to say yes to Your call, to trust Your plan, and to step out in faith. We declare that we’re walking into the destiny You’ve prepared for us. In Jesus’ name, Amen! Now, go out there and live the life God’s calling you to! You’re blessed, you’re chosen, and you’re unstoppable in His power! I’m believing for God’s best in your life, and I’ll see you next time!
