“Americans have foreign war fatigue… we need our tomahawks too.” — Zelenskyy’s NATO tightrope

At a joint press conference with Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy got the question no diplomat ever wants: what will you give up for peace? Cue the sigh, the stare, and the verbal gymnastics worthy of an Olympic floor routine.

He called for a ceasefire (“we want this, Putin doesn’t”), praised NATO (“the best”), and floated a “bilateral” deal with Trump — because nothing says stability like mixing campaign season with global war fatigue.

The subtext? America’s tired of funding wars abroad but still loves to flex its missiles. Zelenskyy, caught between alliance dreams and election-year optics, had to sell “peace” to a room that only hears “price.”

Somewhere between “pressure on Putin” and “strong security guarantees,” you can practically hear the gears grinding: diplomacy’s hard when your audience just wants a nap.
