Suspect Killed in Santa Clara After Stabbing Roommate Multiple Times

Santa Clara, California — On September 3, 2025, at about 6:00 a.m., Santa Clara Police received a 9-1-1 call reporting a stabbing inside a home on the 1800 block of Eisenhower Drive. The caller said his roommate, 30-year-old Mohammed Nizamuddin, was stabbing another roommate with a large knife. Officers were en route as the dispatcher gathered more information. In the background, the victim can be heard pleading for help as Nizamuddin continued the attack. The caller said the victim managed to take possession of the knife, which broke during the attack. Then, the caller reported Nizamuddin had a second knife. Prior to the officer's arrival, Nizamuddin had already stabbed the victim multiple times.

The officer could hear a commotion inside and forced open the front door. The officer encountered Nizamuddin in the hallway as he straddled the victim. There were at least three other residents present in the house, Nizamuddin and the victim were struggling over the knife. When the officer saw the Nizamuddin's hand holding the knife come down toward the victim, the officer shot four times, striking him with all four of the shots. Officers took the victim outside and provided medical aid until paramedics arrived. Inside the home, officers approached Nizamuddin, placed him in handcuffs, and rendered medical aid. Nizamuddin was transported to the hospital by paramedics where he later died. Two knives were recovered at the scene. One of the knives broke during the attack. The victim sustained multiple stab wounds to the hands, chest, and abdomen. He survived his injuries. No officers were injured during this incident.
