Trump says federal deployment to San Francisco called off after conversation with Mayor

President Trump announced he has canceled a planned deployment of federal agents to San Francisco after speaking with Mayor Daniel Lurie and receiving calls from tech leaders praising the city’s progress.

Lurie highlighted recent crime reductions, with violent crime at its lowest since the 1950s, and credited local efforts for improving public safety.

Tech executives, including Nvidia’s Jensen Huang and Salesforce’s Marc Benioff, encouraged giving the city a chance, influencing Trump’s decision.

Governor Gavin Newsom and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi praised the move and the mayor’s leadership, while Oakland officials remained cautious about federal actions in their city, CBS News has reported.

The announcement coincided with Border Patrol preparations in nearby Alameda, though federal plans for other Bay Area cities remain unclear.
