Let Go and Let Your Water Break: Let The River Finish Its Work
There is a river flowing. It moves toward the east. It is the river of God, and it is inviting every one of us to let go, to stop grabbing for branches, and to trust the buoyancy God has placed inside of us. This is not an abstract theory. I have lived it, physically & naturally guided people down violent rapids, and watched Holy Spirit supernaturally draw people deeper into himself. Today I want to speak directly to you: God is asking you to get on your back, bring your knees to your chest, breathe, and let the river carry you into the peaceful eddy where life is renewed.
The River and the Call to Let Go
Imagine the fiercest whitewater you have ever seen. People often think the only way to survive is to fight, to panic, to grab at anything that seems like a handle. But if you fight the river you drown faster than the water can carry you. In a violent rapid the only way to survive is to stop fighting. Roll onto your back, keep your lungs full of breath, draw your knees to your chest and let the buoyancy God created carry you to the surface. Your legs become shock absorbers. Your breath is the floatation device. Your joints soften the blows. And while you float, the river does its work.
"The only way to do this is to quit fighting for your life. Because if you're fighting for your life, you're going to get into a panic swim in a river that's way stronger than you."
Grabbing a branch in the middle of the flow looks like safety, but it becomes a trap. The river keeps moving and it tears you apart against that grip. Let go. Lay there on your back and let the current carry you toward an eddy — a circular, peaceful pool downstream where the river settles, where you can safely step ashore. This is a spiritual picture and a practical lesson. God is inviting you to stop depending on intellect, fear, or instinct, and trust instead the life-flow he has placed inside you.
Different Wires, Same River
Not everyone worships or responds the same way. Some of you have been wired by God to sob openly in awe. Some of you show your devotion through worship with tears and groans. Others have been given apostolic callings, or quieter ways of loving and leading. I've seen it in our own gatherings — some people leave a call because they don't understand a moment of open worship. That's okay. God isn't asking everyone to cry on camera or to display the same outward expression. He is asking every single one of us to let him lead us deeper, according to how he made us.
It doesn't matter whether your response is audible and visible or silent and steady. What matters is that you stop resisting and begin cooperating with the river's flow. The same river touches us differently, but it is the same river. It is Holy Spirit moving in unique, personal ways.
Ezekiel's River and the Invitation Out of the Dead Sea
We read about a river that flows to the eastern region, down to the Araba, where it enters the Dead Sea. When the river empties into that salty place, the waters that were dead become fresh. Picture trees lining this riverbank, great trunks and lush foliage. The Lord says: come out of the Dead Sea and get into my life-flowing river. If you feel weary, defeated, hope deferred so long that you are sick of waiting, God is saying, come into the living water. There is restoration waiting.
This is not spiritual poetry only. It is an invitation to practical renewal. Walk out of the places that have become salty with bitterness and stagnation. Step into the flow that turns what was dead into life. That transformation is available to you now.
Mary, Elizabeth, and Letting Your Water Break
When Mary visited Elizabeth, the babe in Elizabeth's womb leaped for joy. Elizabeth was filled with Holy Spirit and pronounced blessing over Mary. Mary responded, "I am bursting with good news." That line is a prophetic picture for your life today. Even if you cannot get pregnant in the natural, there is a spiritual birthing happening inside every believer. When you allow God's voice and presence to be heard in your life, the spirit within you begins to jump and leap.
"I am bursting with good news."
Belief birthed action. Belief birthed a proclamation. Mary was ostracized, misunderstood, and nearly abandoned by cultural expectations, yet she trusted God's word and bore something the world could not explain. Today God says to you: believe every word I have spoken, let your resistance break, let your water break, and step into the birthing season. Whatever God is forming through you needs the river to finish the work. Let it break loose.
Speak the Name of Jesus — The Power of Simple Words
We live in a voice-activated kingdom. When you speak in obedience, heaven moves. It is not about eloquence. Jesus did not give long sermons for every miracle. He said, "Lazarus, come out." He said, "Go home, your son is well." Simple commands, simple words, full power. One of the simplest ways to show awe before God is to lift the cup and say, "Lord, thank you for this blood that you shed for me." Say, "Thank you, Jesus." Those words are more potent than we often realize.
There are many prophetic voices online that speak without naming Jesus. Beware of those who avoid proclaiming his name. There is power in declaring Jesus aloud. Let your testimony ring with the name that breaks chains. Speak Jesus from the mountains, speak Jesus in the streets, speak Jesus in the darkness. This is not empty language — it is the medium by which heaven responds.
Communion: Don't Pick the Tomb's Weight Back Up
When we take communion we remember that Jesus carried our sins, our illnesses, and our imperfections into the grave. He rose and left the grave clothes behind. He did not intend for you to pick them back up. When I take the bread and the cup I say thank you for the broken body and the shed blood, and I choose not to reclaim the failure, the shame, the labels, and the inadequacies that Jesus removed.
Jesus took away every perceived shortcoming when he went into the tomb. If you keep telling yourself you are not enough, you are picking up what he already cleaned off. Reclaim the declaration that you are loved, forgiven, restored, and more than a conqueror. The tomb is empty — do not live like you are buried there.
Anger at Injustice and Returning to the River
There will be times when reading news and watching leaders makes you furious. I know the frustration — I have felt it. Corruption, misused power, and deception provoke the flesh. But keep returning to the Spirit. Anger can be a fuel for righteousness, but only if it leads you back to the river of peace where God instructs you. He is allowing certain things to come to light so that a righteous rebuilding can begin.
Our responsibility is to remain a people of awe and prayer, to call out wickedness, and to cooperate with God's purification work. When tyrants fall and hypocrisy is exposed, remember that our call is to mercy, to rebuilding, and to welcoming God's chosen ones into the banquet he has prepared. The river will carry us through the cleanup if we do not let our anger become our identity.
Practical Steps: How to Let Go and Float
Stop fighting. Stop flailing. Jesus is your floatation device.
Roll onto your back in surrender. Bring your knees to your chest. Let your breath carry you.
Refuse to grab branches of fear, shame, or public opinion.
Speak simple, faith-filled words. Say "Thank you, Jesus" out loud.
Participate in small acts of obedience: pray for a stranger, take communion, worship with the church body.
Cooperate with heaven's sound. Your name is wafting on the wind of the throne; make your life available to carry that sound.
The Power of Small Prayers and Ordinary People
I remember a night 23 years ago when five people I had never met sat around me and prayed. They did not realize how pivotal that simple act would be. To them it was an ordinary night of prayer. To me it became the hinge of my life. This is the same for you. That simple prayer or word which was nothing for you, is changing lives in ways you'll never know. Will You Speak It?  The penetrating love they prayed over me changed my marriage, my trajectory, and my capacity to trust God. Often you cannot see the full impact of a single prayer or moment of obedience. God remembers, heaven moves, and lives are transformed.
You may think your voice or small prayer doesn't matter. It matters more than you know. A single sentence — a blessing, a word of encouragement, a whispered "thank you, Jesus" — can change an atmosphere and create a path for someone else to walk into life. Do not underestimate the effect of your simple faithfulness.
Final Appeal: Come In, Let It Flow
We are not bound by the limitations of this world. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is working in you. But that power requires your cooperation. You are in charge of allowing the river to move through you or of blocking it with your grasp on fear and shame. Let go. Allow the love of God to flow through you to every life you touch. Your life is a living testimony of his grace. Rise up, child. Live in the freedom that only Christ provides. Step into the river. The eddy is waiting. The banquet table is prepared. The river of the Lord is flowing toward the east, and it will carry you into perfect peace.
Thank you, Lord, for this river. Thank you for the breath you put in our lungs. Thank you for knees that absorb the shocks. Thank you for the eddy where we can step ashore and taste your peace. We will stop picking up the grave clothes. We will stop grabbing branches. We will speak the name of Jesus. We will come into your river and let it do what only you can do.
