After JFK's assassination, Hoover called RFK to inform him of the shooting and death, using a cold, matter-of-fact tone.

- (05:32-06:41) After the assassination, Hoover never spoke to RFK again and re-established his direct pipeline to the White House, bypassing the attorney general. RFK Jr. reflects that JFK made a major political sacrifice by supporting civil rights, knowing it would cost Democrats the "solid South," but believing the issue couldn't continue a century after the Civil War.
