300 Is the movie that put Zach Snyder on the map and gave us many memes back in the age of Myspace.
Gerard Butler, Scottish actor, portrays The Greek giga chad king, Leonidas. His performance will go down as one of the screamiest kings in all of cinema.
Bah GAWD is it awesome. while this movie has flaws, it does its job well. That job is to be a summer blockbuster action popcorn movie. 300 delivers in spades.

300 gets a lot of heat about being historically inaccurate, which it is, but many forget its being told as a propaganda piece by the narrator Dilios to rally Greek troops for the upcoming Battle of Marathon that is launched at the end of the movie.

While its true 300 Spartans died in one of history’s greatest last stands, but they were joined by soldiers from other Greek city states in said historical event and also they did not go into battle wearing only a cape and speedo, they were fully armed for the time period. However what is true in real life and in the movie that the various city states of Greece were being threatened with assimilation into the Persian empire and they didn’t want that. King Leonidas leads a small force that will lead a bigger gathering of Greek troops at the narrow pass of Thermopylae in hopes of holding back the invading Persians long enough to assemble a grand army.

Another reason the movie catches heat is how the Persian Army is portrayed, along with their king Xerxes.

Portrayed as demonic, the Persians are lead by the giant effeminate god king Xerxes who is adorned with multiple body piercings and jewelry. Rodrigo Santoro had to endure multiple hours each day he was on set to be transformed into Xerxes. Again while cool looking, the Immortals, Persia's elite fighting force, are portrayed as to having ninja techniques, something they didn’t practice in real life.

With all that said, turn off your thinking caps and watch some of the most glorious sword and sandal genre action you will ever see.

it is important to note that this movie is based on the graphic novel of the same name by Frank Miller. yes the same Frank Miller who gave us the Dark Knight Returns, Batman Year One, X-Men Days of Futures Past, and Sin City.
