- Glock quietly announced the discontinuation of several models and the launch of the new “V” series on April 25, 2025, but the news only gained attention recently.
- “V” stands for Gen 5 — Glock is simply adopting the Roman numeral naming convention (V = 5).
- Key internal parts have been redesigned (trigger housing, ejector, firing pin, internal slide milling, rear striker plate) to improve part commonality across models; old magazines remain compatible.
- The updates appear largely driven by ongoing lawsuits from anti-gun states claiming Glock pistols can be converted into machine guns, though innovation and market pressure also play roles.
