Jonathon Winters/Robin Williams Johnny Carson discuss Jonathon's Emmy

Fantastic appearance of Jonathon Winters and Robin Williams on the Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson. It was said that Robin "worshipped" Winters. It's good to have those whom we look up to, adore, love in this life. It's especially touching to watch Williams, who was a legend in his own right, laughing like a little kid next to his idol.

Nothing and no one should replace Christ in our lives, and that's a hard thing to do. I once told my counselor that Jesus wasn't "tangible". I knew he existed, I knew he loved me, I knew he wanted me to follow him, to give my life to him, and I wanted to, but as far as saying I "loved" him, I couldn't get that part of my brain to work because he wasn't tangible to me. He wasn't in the room, he didn't answer my calls, I didn't know him in a human way.

I've tried for years to find that in scripture, in spending time alone talking to him, in looking back on the times in my life when events occurred that could only be characterized as miracles. We all know death is coming, but for many of us, until were looking it in the face, we don't live our lives like we are mortals. I'm 58 and still find myself looking for the next big thing--a wife? A good wife, I should say--that was, since I was a small child, my dream--to be happily married, to go through life with an intimate partner who knew me better than she knew herself, to share everything with, and in turn be that for her.

I now realize I need to give up that dream or I'll never be happy. I tried that for a while but then a situation in 2022 put me right back there. Jesus never leaves, Jesus never tells you that you aren't up to his standard so no matter how much you want to and how much you struggle to live up to that, he'll walk away and tell you to get lost--Jesus never does that.

Still--I've loved and been close to a lot of people in this life--but they never returned that. I have to have Jesus--he's my only hope. He's all our only hope.
