I live in a state where our governor endorsed and supported Gascon
I live in a state where our governor endorsed and supported Gascon, not once, not twice, not three times, but actually four times in both San Francisco and Los Angeles. Newsom and Gascon tried to tell everyone prosecuting crime was actually unfair and wrong. And Newsom now tweets regularly about following the law and how he deserves credit for our crime rate being allegedly so low.
Newsom closed down schools for 2 years, released thousands from jails & prisons, some who have reoffended, had people arrested for paddle boarding in the ocean, dumped sand on skate parks and destroyed many businesses and now he just says just “move on.”
I live in a county where our elected officials don’t believe in jails or prison for anyone, violent repeat offenders are labeled as “victims,” and if a politician just doesn’t agree with a law they tell everyone not to follow it. Fraud and corruption are viewed as normal. City officials get indicted regularly. And billions in taxpayer funds intended for the homeless has gone missing but no one seems to care. Wildfires burn down communities, and even with national warnings, our elected officials go off to other continents instead of staying and helping. That’s also just normal.
I live in a state with the highest gas prices, highest poverty rate, highest taxes, highest military veteran homelessness, horrible roads, dangerous public transit, bad schools and highest utility bills, where we hand out CDL’s to anyone, argue about sex trafficking of a minor even being a felony, defunding the police is just normal talk, and elected officials actually want to replace law enforcement with unarmed violence interrupters. We were the last state in the country to give a tax break for veteran’s benefits and getting basic homeowners insurance has become an incredible challenge where our elected insurance commissioner goes on safaris paid for by the taxpayer and thats viewed as normal. Parks with fentanyl and drug addicts are viewed as safe places for children, and Chesa Boudin and Pam Price actually got elected by a majority to prosecute crime.
So gerrymandering districts isn’t going to miraculously fix all these issues and voting for the same just doesn’t seem reasonable to me.
