Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles Two-Player Playthrough - Part 1
This is part 1 of my capture of me and a friend playing through Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles for the Wii. This was recorded directly from my Wii (not the Wii U). I'm player one and Peter is player two. We're playing on normal difficulty.
Back in 2009 my friend Peter and I began playing a bunch of multiplayer Wii games such as Wii Sports Resort, Mario Kart Wii and New Super Mario Bros. Wii. We completed all of New Super Mario Bros. Wii within about a week of the game's release date, but right after that, I started looking for more multiplayer games to keep the fun going.
Peter recommended that I get Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles because apparently it was a ton of fun. Some time before Christmas I decided to get the game, so I headed off to Best Buy to find it.
Unfortunately, Best Buy was no longer carrying copies of the game, but the sequel, Darkside Chronicles, had just come out. Based on Peter's recommendation, I picked up Darkside Chronicles for $50. It was one of the few instances where I gambled by purchasing a new, full-priced game with almost no independent knowledge of its quality.
However, any concerns that I might have had were immediately assuaged when Peter and I started playing Darkside Chronicles. It was tons of fun. We completed the entire game within about two days, but it only left us wanting more, so Peter picked up his own Wii Zapper and a copy of The House of the Dead: Overkill. Although we had some fun with The House of the Dead, it just didn't match Darkside Chronicles, nor did it seem to have any replay value, so Peter returned his copy right after we beat it.
Darkside Chronicles, however, ended being so much fun that I beat it about three or four times with my friends Peter and Drew. I even maxed out the upgrades on the Linear Launcher in my first save file. Darkside Chronicles quickly became my favorite light gun game that I had ever played. Although the shakey camera was a bit annoying, I absolutely loved the action, the upgrade system, the boss fights, and the fact that you could just obliterate everything in the background in order to find secrets, including money for more upgrades. The game just never gets old for me.
Peter felt like enabling the laser sight option this time around, so that's why you'll see red and blue lasers on screen in this playthrough. I've never used this feature before, but it's kind of cool, and it does help me keep track of my cursor a little better.
In this first part we started a new save file and completed the mission "Operation Javier: Chapter 1."
Recorded with the Hauppauge HD PVR and the Wii's component cables at 60 frames per second.
We're using Wii Zappers.
