The Sign of the Cross - A weapon against the devil!

How many of us know the meaning of the Sign of the Cross? As Catholics we’ve done it 1000’s, maybe millions of times, but do we know why we do it and it’s meaning? This video will help you to know its meaning and to hopefully never take this powerful tool for granted again!

The first meaning is that it is a weapon against the devil. St. John Vianney said that “The sign of the cross is the most terrible weapon against the devil…we should make it when we go to bed, when we awaken during the night, when we get up, when we begin any action, and above all, when we are tempted”. I’ve started this practice and I must tell you that it works!! Whenever I’m tempted, I make the Sign of the Cross and tell the devil to flee in the name of Jesus. Try it!!!

Too many times we can get overly casual or take things for granted, especially those things we do often like making the Sign of the Cross. Try not to be casual. Rather, be intentional. Think deeply about what the Sign of the Cross means. It is a weapon…so wield it often and effectively!
