A color revolution is a series of often non-violent, pro-democracy protests in post-Soviet states in the early 21st century that led to government change, typically after elections that were widely seen as fraudulent. These movements, like the Rose Revolution in Georgia, the Orange Revolution in Ukraine, and the Tulip Revolution in Kyrgyzstan, used a specific color as their symbol and were marked by mass street demonstrations, the use of the internet for communication, and a strong role from NGOs. The aim was to establish Western-style democracies.
