Astrolab has designed a versatile rover named FLEX, which stands for Flexible Logistics and Exploration. Thanks to its adaptability, FLEX can be used for cargo transport, delivery, construction, and more. This rover could be NASA’s solution to supporting a more permanent presence on the Moon and Mars. The FLEX rover has a projected maximum payload of 3,527 lbs. FLEX features a wheel-on-limb mobility system that can raise and lower its chassis, enhancing stability and maintaining better ground clearance to adapt to varying terrain. The rover is also equipped with airless tires designed for soft soil mobility. A Modular Crew Interface attachment enables the rover to transport two astronauts. The FLEX Rover is expected to travel to the Moon with the Artemis Program as early as 2026. What do you think of permanent life on the Moon and Mars?
