The Soldier Still Standing

Steel sky, ash on my sleeve,
march boots echo down a broken street.
Orders in my pocket, prayer in my teeth,
one more mile and I still believe.
Dust in my eyes, fire in my chest,
every scar a promise I won’t forget.
I’m a soldier still standing,
through the smoke and the thunder’s command.
Head down, spirit high,
walking with lions by my side.
He ain’t finished, I’m still His plan—
I’m a soldier still standing.
Night falls hard on the heart of man,
but hope crawls out of the dirt again.
I’ve buried fear, I’ve carried grace,
every wound has its holy place.

I’m a soldier still standing,
through the smoke and the thunder’s command.
Head down, spirit high,
walking with lions by my side.
He ain’t finished, I’m still His plan—
I’m a soldier still standing.
I’m still standing…
Still standing…
Still His soldier,
Still His plan.
