El Mirage, AZ - In the 14-minute 911 call, officers said Jeremy Preckel told dispatchers he was suicidal and was holding a rifle.

El Mirage Police added that when the dispatcher said officers were on the way, Preckel said that he wanted to be shot by police.

Officers arrived in the neighborhood just before 6 p.m.

Video from one of the two officers who responded to West Charter Oak and West Bloomfield Road, which is near 115th Avenue and Cactus Road, on Oct. 8, showed the officer pointing their gun and demanding Jeremy Preckel to “show his hands” and to “put down the gun.”

“No, we’re not going to shoot you, just put down your gun,” one of the officers can be heard saying.

The second officer can be heard pleading with Preckel to surrender peacefully.

“I don’t want to shoot you, dude. I don’t want to take your life,“ the officer says.

Police said the two officers gave him more than 20 commands to stop walking or drop the gun.

In the video, Preckel is seen walking in the direction of the officers, who were positioned behind cars and a wall.

Shortly after, one of the officers said, “Keep your hand off the trigger!” An officer fires one shot, hitting Preckel.

After the shooting, a rifle can be seen on the ground near him. Preckel died at the scene.
