A man identified as Damian Cantu of Laredo was arrested after leading Texas DPS Troopers on a dangerous high-speed chase in Webb County. During the pursuit, Cantu stopped briefly to let several illegal immigrants bail out of his white Ford pickup before speeding off again.

Troopers apprehended eight migrants, turned them over to U.S. Border Patrol, and learned Cantu was being paid $250 per person he smuggled. He now faces eight counts of human smuggling and evading arrest.
