* God spared Cain’s life to teach mankind a lesson in mercy and to not take vengeance once God has decided to show mercy.
* Mankind needed a New Adam and New Eve to redeem men. Jesus is the New Adam, Mary is the New Eve. And both had to be sinless. The Blessed Virgin Mary was conceived without sin and never sinned. What made this all the more wonderful is that she did so while living in a sinful world and while being a mere human. Jesus was also sinless, but he is God, a divine person with not only a human nature but also a divine nature. Mary does not have a divine nature and was sinless nevertheless. Mary shows us that God’s will for men was to be as Mary is, sinless. And Mary shows us this is possible, not only in a sinless world (as the world Adam and Eve lived in before they fell), but even in a sinful world, as the one Mary lived in. So if Mary can be sinless in a sinful world, how much more could Adam and Eve have been sinless in the sinless Paradise they were created in before they fell.
* God has been hiding from men for a long time because they are worthy of it, because almost all men are evil to the highest degree. This is known as the Amos Curse. Unless God turns back to men and lifts the curse, there is no hope for them. After all Jesus said, “Yet the Son of man, when he cometh, shall he find, think you, faith on earth?” (Lk. 18:8)
