A Newbie At This Age

This summer I had a birthday and realized there aren't many songs for birthday celebrations.

Well, this summer I started writing songs from poems again, which I haven't done since middle school or high school.

Even played my own music for a few months before my sons realized the songs they liked and was dancing to while grilling out was my own creations.

Poem and song are my creation, the video is AI, ENJOY.

A NEWBIE AT THIS AGE:
I don't know how to act my age,
I've never been this old before.
My joints creak like a squeaky stage,
And coffee's what I now adore.

I tried to groove with youthful flair,
But twisted like a pretzel knot.
The mirror laughed, "Hey, comb that hair!"
It's wilder than a polka dot.

I bought some jeans that hug too tight,
To chase the trends and feel the thrill;
But bending down? A sorry sight,
I popped a seam and lost my will.

At dinners now, I skip the wine,
And opt for milk to soothe my gut.
They call me wise, but that's a line;
I'm just too tired for the strut.

So here's to years I've yet to chart,
With mishaps, laughs, and aches galore.
I'll stumble on with joyful heart,
A newbie at this age once more!
