Our first night back in Hanoi was nothing like we expected. Me and Aunt Renata finally reunited after Bamboo Airways completely screwed up our flight from Saigon — wasting an entire day just to make it up north. By the time we landed, it was already dark, but we made it to the Acoustic Hotel, the same spot we stayed at during the pandemic.

Walking down Train Street, we couldn’t believe our eyes — the place is unrecognizable now. What used to be quiet during lockdown has turned into a neon explosion, almost like Bui Vien in Saigon. The energy, the lights, the crowds — Hanoi has changed big time.

We wrapped up the night with some top-tier sushi nearby and got Aunt Renata’s take on how prices in Hanoi compare to what she’d pay back in New York. A wild first night back and the perfect start to rediscovering how much this city has evolved.
