➡️ It Sounds Christian… But It’s Not from God | Test the Spirits (1 John 4:1)

Not every message that sounds Christian is from the Holy Spirit.

1 John 4:1 says:

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.”

This message breaks down what John meant when he said “test the spirits,” and why that same warning applies to modern teachings that sound sincere — like “Ask Jesus into your heart” or “Just believe.”

Those phrases sound Christian, but they’ve replaced obedient faith with emotional experience — and anytime emotion replaces obedience, it becomes a different gospel.

Paul warned in Galatians 1:6–9 that even if he or an angel preached a different gospel, that message should be rejected.

So today, we test what’s being taught — because truth doesn’t change.
Salvation isn’t an inward feeling; it’s obedient faith that unites us with Christ in baptism and continues in walking in the truth (Matthew 24:13).
