Yan Yunzhou, a student born in the new millennium who has just turned 18, navigates the twists and turns of the college entrance exam (Gaokao) to get into his dream university; Song Yuntian, a doctoral graduate from the Department of Hydraulic Engineering, leaves the ivory tower behind and, after a period of difficult choices, becomes more resolute in his aspiration to "bring well-being to the local people"; Cai Zheng, a "Hubble Fellow" returning to China after ten years in the US, joins the Department of Astronomy, bringing with him a bold initiative to "gaze at the stars"; and Qian Yi, an academician at the School of Environmental Science, celebrates her retirement ceremony at the age of 83, yet remains devoted to teaching from the podium, her work unceasing. Meticulously crafted over three years, "The Great Learning" is an inspirational film about ideals and youth. It presents an authentic portrait of life at Tsinghua University.
