Grand Mound, WA - In the early morning hours of October 11th, a TCSO deputy working the Grand Mound area attempted to stop a recklessly driven vehicle on Old Hwy 99. The driver blacked out and fled at 120mph.

The driver tried to go the wrong way down I5 but crashed into the ditch and ran on foot. A 300 yard foot pursuit ensued across all lanes of I5 when another deputy joined in. A well-placed barbwire fence jumped in to assist, which the suspect got tangled up in and ended up getting stuck hanging upside down.

The suspect was evaluated by medics and put in the back of the car. While being interviewed by the deputy, the suspect puked all over the front of the deputy’s pants and boots before continuing to puke inside the back seat of the car.

The suspect was heavily intoxicated, had an open alcoholic container in the car, and had an active warrant for DUI out for his arrest.

The suspect was cleared from the hospital and deputies obtained a search warrant for his blood. The suspect was booked into TCSO jail for attempting to elude, obstructing, driving on a suspended license, DUI, and reckless endangerment along with the warrant.

The deputy changed his pants and toughed it out for the rest of his shift. We look forward to having a police station in the near future where deputies can clean up after calls like this.
