Jeremy Riddle Talks Forrest Frank and Slams Dove Awards Says System Is Not Christian. Forrest Frank decided not to attend this years dove awards show which causes quiet a controversy in the Christian music world. It lead to a back and forth with Jelly Roll and then Jeremy Riddle decided to speak out as well. Jeremy Riddle has admitted to being an "accomplice" in the system, highlighting that his criticism comes from a place of humility and a desire to spark a higher way of thinking, not judgment. Jeremy Riddle says "I do not believe the GMA Dove Award system for rewarding people is Christian". These are very strong statements from a veteran worship leader with decades of experience. Jeremy Riddle has not won any GMA Dove Awards, but he has recently made critical statements about the awards and the system of rewarding based on popularity and sales, arguing it is a secular value system that conflicts with Christian principles. He argues that being the most streamed or sold song is not a measure of faithfulness in the eyes of God. That is actually a secular value system," he went on. "I just have a hard time hearing Jesus saying, 'Well done, good and faithful servant, your project was streamed more times (and) was played in more churches than all your brothers and sisters. You outrank them in popularity.'" The 47-year-old added that the awards system is "contrary to [God's] character and the Kingdom." "We cut and paste what the world does, and that is offensive toward Heaven," Riddle continued, adding that the real mission for Christians is to be "the light and salt of the world." "What would a truly Kingdom Award show look like?" Riddle questioned. "If we honor the way that Jesus honors...it would be transformational." I thought the former Bethel Worship leader Jeremy Riddle nailed this interview. I was clapping the whole time. Worshiping God should not be reduced to business tactics and a popularity contest.
