Absorbing Jr. is thrilled to present the return of the “Obnoxious Clown” for our cover of
“The Void” by Parkway Drive from there 2018 release titled Reverence.
The flickering neon of a North Las Vegas karaoke bar cast long shadows as the "Obnoxious Clown," sometimes frontman for Absorbing Jr., slammed a pile of cash on the host's podium. "Three takes," he growled, a cheap stogie clenched in his teeth. "Parkway Drive's 'The Void.' We're tracking vocals for our cover through your P.A. system. Raw."
The first take was an auditory assault. A guttural roar of pure, unfiltered rage blasted from the speakers, sending half the bar's patrons scrambling for the exit, clutching their ears. The Clown, fueled by the sonic chaos, punctuated the final scream by drop-kicking the karaoke monitor off the stage.
For the second take, the Clown’s screams were answered by the approaching wail of sirens. As he tore through the song’s brutal crescendo, the doors flew open, and a squad of Las Vegas Metro police officers stormed in with their standard issue guns drawn. They froze, momentarily in shock by the sheer spectacle of the grease-painted madman shredding his vocal cords.
The third take transcended pandemonium. Just as the Clown began his final, unholy roar, the front windows shattered. A swarm of Jawas poured into the bar, chittering and brandishing ion Skill-Saws, inexplicably drawn to the mayhem, began dismantling everything in sight.
Amidst the wreckage, sirens, and alien chaos, the Clown stumbled to the sound engineer who crouched behind an overturned table. He took one last puff of his stogie, the cherry illuminating his manic grin. "Turn the headphones up for this one…" he wheezed, before his eyes rolled back and he passed out. "It's so HEAVY you can't even…" The recording was perfect!
