This is part 4 of me discussing essays from "When I First You" by Brian Gresko.

In the the first essay Ben Greenman ponders the meaning of what it means to be a father. Does he just do parenting so he never thinks about it? Do things get tied up the mundane actions of everyday? I personally like the mundane things that all just blend in together more than the memories that I barely remember.

Andre Aciman's essay is much different on the other hand. His essay is more of a reflection on fatherhood than any other in this book so far because it his children are actually grown and out of the house unlike the other before. Though a theme of ritual and repetition repeats in this essay just as in the previous one and I hope to have those moments with my kids when they're older of simply taking the long route home just to spend more time together.
