President Donald Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House on October 17, 2025, where both leaders addressed questions on the war in Ukraine. Trump outlined his approach to ending the conflict, stressing negotiations, military support limits, and the importance of U.S. leadership in shaping peace talks. Zelensky pushed for stronger commitments, but Trump maintained that his administration’s focus was on securing an outcome that protects American interests while pushing for stability in Eastern Europe.

During the same press availability, Trump also commented on Venezuela, confirming CIA operations targeting narcotrafficking networks and warning President Nicolás Maduro after a string of U.S. naval strikes. He stated Maduro had offered oil and resources in backchannel talks but emphasized U.S. control of the seas and hinted land operations could follow.
