Jack Smith’s DOJ Referral: GOP Lawmakers Demand Action

Former Special Counsel Jack Smith is under fire after being referred to the Department of Justice for a misconduct investigation and potential disbarment.

Senator Marsha Blackburn led the charge, sending a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi demanding action after revelations that Smith allegedly spied on several GOP Senators during the so-called “Arctic Frost” investigation into January 6.

Documents released earlier this year show that the Biden DOJ and FBI, under Smith’s supervision, allegedly accessed the cell phone records of eight Republican Senators, including call times, durations, and locations—actions accused of violating constitutional protections and the separation of powers.

Republican lawmakers, including Chuck Grassley, Ron Johnson, Lindsey Graham, Tommy Tuberville, Dan Sullivan, and Rep. Mike Kelly, have called Smith’s actions a weaponized political attack against former President Donald Trump, former Vice President Mike Pence, and GOP allies.

The FBI reportedly fired three agents tied to Smith after the scandal came to light, making this one of the most explosive political controversies surrounding the Biden DOJ in recent years.
