Episode 1277: Dead to sin but alive to GOD!

Hello everyone. In this morning's Bible study we continue our march through the book of Revelation in Chapter 2 concerning the letters that our Lord Jesus Christ wrote to His churches.

After nearly a decade of doctrinal publishing through various New Testament writers the Lord is now conducting a spiritual evaluation of His children and their assembly.

What He finds is both remarkable and troubling. Remarkable in the fact that His church is resilient and cannot be broken by the onslaught of attacks by the flesh, the world, and the devil. Is that because of the faith of the saints? Of course not! That's because of the Lord of the church.

Troubling in that there were Satan's children who crept in unawares by the saints because they lacked discernment due to their lack of knowledge of the scriptures.

The study and reliance upon solely the scriptures were substituted for emotions, commonality, self fulfillment, self gratification, the sensational, the self reliant, the pleasure seeking, money, and happiness. This all resulted in the dilution and pollution of the gospel.

The gospel being preached went from the sinner needing God to God needing the sinner. It went from Christ saving us to us making Christ our Lord. It went from what the law COULD NOT DO DUE TO THE WEAKNESS OF OUR FLESH, an impossible salvation, to all I NEED TO DO IS, you name it, repent-confess-whatever.

Is that what the scriptures teach? Of course not! The scriptures teach this:Romans 8:2-9 (NKJV)
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

The scriptures teach that salvation is not for the sinner but for God.Isaiah 63:1-6 (NKJV)

The LORD in Judgment and Salvation
1 Who is this who comes from Edom,
With dyed garments from Bozrah,
This One who is glorious in His apparel,
Traveling in the greatness of His strength?—
“I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save.”
2 Why is Your apparel red,
And Your garments like one who treads in the winepress?
3 “I have trodden the winepress alone,
And from the peoples no one was with Me.
For I have trodden them in My anger,
And trampled them in My fury;
Their blood is sprinkled upon My garments,
And I have stained all My robes.
4 For the day of vengeance is in My heart,
And the year of My redeemed has come.
5 I LOOKED, BUT THERE WAS NO ONE TO HELP (a helper for Adam and his offspring), and I wondered that THERE WAS NO ONE TO UPHOLD;
Therefore MY OWN ARM BROUGHT SALVATION FOR ME;
And My own fury, it (MY OWN ARM) sustained (SATISFIED) Me .
6 I have trodden down the peoples in My anger,
Made them drunk in My fury,
And brought down their strength to the earth.”

It literally breaks my heart to hear and see what has happened to God's people through the ignorance of scriptures.

O LORD God, have mercy upon us and bring us back to relying solely upon Your word. In Christ Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
