TROUT TALES 🎣 8 Days Remote Backpack Catch, Cook and Camp with My Dog

Seven nights, one backpacker, and one blue-eyed trail companion 🐕‍🦺 named Ollie. We hiked deep into the backcountry at 11,750 feet, camped by hidden lakes, and even had a fish fry for breakfast (because why not?). Big cutthroat, wild trails, and unforgettable moments—this is the fisherman’s life, raw & real.

Pack your gear and grab your fishing rod—this is an 8 day, 7 night backpacking trip like no other! Over these days, going deep into alpine lakes, I set out on a 4K adventure with Ollie, the most handsome Australian shepherd you’ll ever see. Together, we explored waters where the air is thin, the views are stunning, and each remote lake is filled with hungry trout.

From battling deadfall across the trail to setting up camping spots, and keeping an eye out for black bear and mountain lions, every moment was a challenge met and a story made. But the total prize? A trophy 16-inch, 1.5 lbs. Cutthroat—the biggest fish of the trip! The thrill of catching, the joy of filleting and cooking them in the wild, and the satisfaction of that great flavor when you deep fry them in ghee, wow! Tasty meals are enjoyed, and they’re more than that—they’re downright delicious. One of the best memories was a fish fry for breakfast at camp, with hot coffee and the morning sun lighting up the high mountain lake.

You’ll see me hook, cook, and eat fish while soaking in the scenic beauty of the mountains. There’s laughter and there’s pure love for the wilderness. We sit by the campfire, enjoy the view, and embrace the fisherman’s life — primitive and pristine.

There are mountain sheep, moments where Ollie the master sheep herder shows his skills, and plenty of exploring in the great outdoors. Every second celebrates the ultra adventures of hiking with my lucky dog, and living out the dream of a backpack fisherman.

So if you love the outdoors, angling experiences, and the magic of high altitude adventures… this one’s for you. It’s happy, it’s rugged, it’s absolutely packed with fish, fire, food, and fun. Join us as we chase big trout, celebrate the catch, and savor every excellent, unforgettable day in the wild.
