Russia launched a powerful Iskander missile strike on a major Ukrainian drone base near Kharkiv before President Volodymyr Zelensky met Donald Trump at the White House.

Moscow claims over 60 “Lyuty” drones, several launchers, and trucks were destroyed, with around 30 Ukrainian troops killed. The timing of the attack coincided with Zelensky’s plea for U.S. Tomahawk missiles to boost Ukraine’s long-range strike capabilities.

During their meeting, Trump appeared reluctant, saying he hoped to end the war “without thinking about Tomahawks.” Trump had spoken to Vladimir Putin before the meeting, with the Russian leader warning that supplying such weapons would harm U.S.-Russia ties.

The missile strike and Trump’s cautious tone underscore rising tensions as Kyiv seeks deeper U.S. military support while Washington signals a possible shift toward diplomacy.
