Putin directly warns Trump that sending Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine will damage US-Russia relations

Russian President Vladimir Putin has directly warned his American counterpart that sending long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine will severely damage relations between Moscow and Washington.

The United States will provide Ukraine with intelligence for long-range missile strikes against Russia, it has been reported.
US officials will allow Kyiv to strike energy infrastructure deep in the Kremlin’s territory and are considering whether to send weapons to Ukraine that could put more Russian targets within reach.
The Wall Street Journal reported that the US is also asking Nato allies to provide similar support.
Ukraine has benefitted from American intelligence throughout the war but Kyiv has asked for additional assistance to strike Russian refineries, pipelines, power stations with the aim of depriving the Kremlin of vital revenue and oil.
Donald Trump has been urging European countries to stop buying Russian oil in exchange for his agreement to impose tough sanctions on Moscow.
The White House and Ukraine’s government have not responded to a request for comment.
According to US officials cited by The Wall Street Journal, the intelligence approval came shortly before Mr Trump posted on social media last week suggesting that Ukraine could retake all its land occupied by Russia, in a striking rhetorical shift in Kyiv’s favour.

“After seeing the Economic trouble (the war) is causing Russia, I think Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form,” Mr Trump wrote on Truth Social last Tuesday, shortly after meeting Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine’s president.
The US is also considering Ukraine’s request for extra military assistance, including a wish for Tomahawk missiles which have a range of 1,550 miles (2,500km) and would be capable of striking Moscow and much of Western Russia.
Ukraine has also developed its own long-range missile named the Flamingo, though it is in early production.
This is the first time the US will provide assistance with Ukrainian long-range strikes deep into Russian territory on energy targets.

Energy revenue remains the Kremlin’s single most important source of cash to finance the war effort, making oil and gas exports a central target of Western sanctions.
Mr Trump has taken steps to impose an additional tariff on imports from India to pressure New Delhi to halt its purchases of discounted Russian crude oil, and lobbied the likes of Turkey to stop buying oil from Moscow too.
