My Black and White Chicago

This is my story. While working sales with my husband Dennis at a flea market, we were harassed and illegally detained by police officers who used racial slurs and abuse of power to intimidate us. This was the first of many experiences that opened my eyes to realities some people never have to face. I'm sharing this so those who haven't experienced it can understand what the real world looks like for many of us. My experience was only mine—I know others have been through worse—but every story matters. This is my journey.
