45-year-old Diego Hernandez Martinez was sentenced to 25 years in Florida state prison for a deadly DUI crash on Beach Boulevard in Jacksonville that killed two young motorcyclists, Gabe DiSpirito and Joseph Royce. The crash happened on October 3, 2024, when Martinez, driving drunk with a blood alcohol level of 0.220 and no valid license, turned into the path of the riders. Both victims lost their lives from the impact. Martinez pled guilty in July 2025 to two counts of DUI manslaughter and related charges. In addition to prison time, he received 2½ years of probation, a permanent driver’s license suspension, and faces deportation after his sentence.
