Around 9 a.m. on October 4, Arkansas State Police (ASP) pulled over a silver Jeep around the 65-mile marker northbound on Interstate 40 for a traffic violation.

During the traffic stop, the driver, identified as 23-year-old Dustin Paulman of Forrest City, fled the scene at high speeds before exiting the interstate.

Just after the pursuit began, the suspect vehicle crashed at the intersection of Sang Avenue and Berry Street.

The driver would flee the vehicle on feet, heading eastbound. A passenger in the vehicle was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
Paulman was located with the assistance of the Fayetteville Police Department (FPD) around 10 a.m. and taken into custody.

Both Paulman and the passenger of the vehicle were taken to Washington Regional Medical Center for treatment. The passenger suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

FPD had been advised that the vehicle driven by Paulman had been reported stolen during the overnight hours. It was also discovered that Paulman had a nationwide felony warrant out of Washington County for Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Purpose to Deliver and was in violation of his post-prison parole agreement.

When Paulman refused medical treatment, he was transported to the Washington County Detention Center by the Washington County Sheriff's Office. Paulman has been charged with felony Fleeing, Kidnapping, Theft by Receiving, and First Degree Battery.
