The Soko G-2 Galeb ("Seagull") is a jet trainer and light attack aircraft developed in Yugoslavia in the 1960s. It is the first mass-produced jet aircraft of domestic design in the Balkans and the first jet aircraft to be serially produced in socialist Yugoslavia.

Development of the G-2 began in 1957 in Belgrade at the request of the Yugoslav Air Force. The prototype's first flight took place on July 3, 1961, and the aircraft entered production in 1965. A total of 248 aircraft of this type were produced until production ended in 1985.

The main operator was Yugoslavia (about 128 aircraft). The largest importer was Libya (up to 116 aircraft), with single units also supplied to Zambia and Indonesia. The G-2 and its attack variant, the J-21, were actively used in military conflicts in the Balkans in the 1990s, as well as in Libya during the 2011 civil war.

Some G-2s are still operated in Serbia; they are used for testing and by private aerobatic teams.

Beautiful airplanes ✈️
