lachua County K-9 Tracks Down Fleeing Suspect in Woods

On the evening of Wednesday, September 3, 2025, the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, Drug Task Force, and the FOCUS unit were alerted to a vehicle that was in our county and believed to be occupied by a wanted suspect named Trever Strawder. The information received led our Detectives to believe that Strawder was possibly armed and that he is potentially involved in recent violent crimes outside of Alachua County.

Detective Clayton Litzkow initiated a traffic stop on a gray Nissan Altima, believed to be driven by Strawder, for a traffic violation in the 3300 block of SW Williston Road. While the vehicle initially came to a stop, the situation quickly escalated when the driver fled the scene upon the detective’s approach. The suspect vehicle collided with another motorist and continued to flee at a high rate of speed.

In an effort to protect public safety and prevent further danger to other drivers, responding ASO units attempted a tactical maneuver to stop the fleeing vehicle. The suspect, however, rammed into our vehicle before his car became disabled shortly after. Strawder, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, exited from the passenger side of the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.

Deputies and Detectives gave chase on foot, observing Strawder flee into a heavily wooded area. Despite multiple lawful commands to stop, Strawder continued to flee until he was apprehended by an ASO K-9.

Strawder holds three active arrest warrants—two for Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and one for Battery on Specified Personnel. He also does not possess a valid driver’s license.
