Stephen Moore: A Champion of Free-Market Economics
Stephen Moore, born February 16, 1960, is a prominent American economist, author, and conservative commentator renowned for advocating free-market principles, tax cuts, and limited government intervention. A graduate of the University of Illinois with a master's degree in economics from George Mason University, Moore's career spans over four decades, blending policy expertise with media influence.Early in his trajectory, Moore served as the Grover M. Hermann Fellow in Budgetary Affairs at The Heritage Foundation (1983–1987) and as research director for President Ronald Reagan's Privatization Commission in 1987. He later joined the libertarian Cato Institute as a senior fellow for a decade, publishing influential studies on fiscal policy. In 1999, he co-founded and led the Club for Growth as president until 2004, transforming it into a powerhouse for electing pro-free-market congressional candidates. Moore also founded the Free Enterprise Fund and contributed regularly to The Wall Street Journal as a senior economics writer and editorial board member.A vocal critic of the Federal Reserve, Moore has called for its reform or abolition in favor of a gold standard, sparking debate among economists. In 2016, he advised Donald Trump's presidential campaign on tax, budget, and energy policies, co-authoring the bestselling Trumponomics with Arthur Laffer. Trump nominated him for the Federal Reserve Board in 2019, but the bid faltered amid controversies over past comments on women and economic orthodoxy.Today, Moore is a senior visiting fellow at The Heritage Foundation, co-founder of the Committee to Unleash Prosperity, and a frequent Fox News and CNN analyst. Honored with the Ronald Reagan "Great Communicator" Award (2007) and named one of Worth Magazine's 75 most influential economic figures (2018), he continues lecturing globally on restoring American prosperity through deregulation and innovation. His six books, including Government: America's #1 Growth Industry, underscore his belief in unleashing entrepreneurship to counter bureaucratic overreach.(Word count: 248)#StephenMoore #Economist #FreeMarkets #Conservative #HeritageFoundation #ClubForGrowth #Trumponomics #TaxReform #WallStreetJournal #CatoInstitute #ReaganLegacy #GoldStandard #FederalReserve #EconomicPolicy #FiscalHawk #Prosperity #LimitedGovernment #TrumpAdvisor #CNNAnalyst #FoxNews
