This week's project have been the completion of what will be my third release from first album, Somber Moon, titled, Whole Acoustic Version. Also the bio of the third release from my second album, Spells and Spirits, titled, Trinity. More on these when the release dates come up.
Our review this week is not a book but Arthur. A person who has entertained and inspired our intellect and imagination. You may not be familiar with him. You may have not even heard of him. You have been affected by his madness. His name is Howard Filips Lovecraft.
Howard Phillips Lovecraft (US: /ˈlʌvkræft/, UK: /ˈlʌvkrɑːft/; August 20, 1890 – March 15, 1937) was an American writer of weird, horror, fantasy, and science fiction. He is best known for his creation of the Cthulhu Mythos,[a] See Wicapedia for more indepth knowlage
Obviously I am a fan of Lovecraft’s works. He was gifted and cursed with an imagination that was blasphemous and monstrous.
I have just recently got his entire works as an audio book. Spending the last week being captivated by his written words read to me.
H.P Lovecraft was a master dreamer who delved into the depths of chaos and horror. Bring back little tidbits to tantalize our conceptions of both the cosmos and the dream world.
His short stories are masterpieces well written utilizing the craft of story telling to convey his experience.
Being dyslexic his short stories are pleasurable and enticing. The way his pen described horrors was absolutely eloquent.
So profoundly that he has captivated the minds of myself and many others. Who have used his works in their own creations.
Most notably, Metallica the Evil Dead movies, and Robert EHoward. Also a story from the perspective of Houdini. Just to name some off the top of my head.
Metallica has a song titled, Call of the Cthulhu. An amazing instrumental worth listening to and learning.

The entire Evil Dead series, directed by Samuel M. Raimi and starring Bruce Campbell main trope is the necronomicon. With gory blood splattering images. With creatures from the afterlife coming back to real havok on the world. Only to be stopped by an unlikely hero. Combining both Lovecraft and Howerds work in an entertaining series.

Robert E Howard's and his series Conan the Barbarian. Fun fact that HP Lovecraft and Robert Howard's were both penpals. HP. Lovecraft and Robert Howard influenced each other and gave nods to the others' works in their stories.
The main difference is in Howard's works his heroes fought impossible monsters. Where in Lovecraft's works most of his protagonists went mad when faced with the horrors of the world. Although the two never met in person. They were close friends. Lovecraft wrote a moving epitaph after Howerds death.

Lovecraft and Houdini did know of each other. They were encouraged to collaborate by Wired Tales. A pulp fiction magazine from the 1920s that featured articles from both.
Lovecraft retells an experience from Harry Houdini's perspective. Yes they did meet. After that meeting Lovecraft gets permission to write The Story, Underneath the Pyramids. A story that Houdini approved.
Out of all of his works this story I find the most interesting. Mainly because it is pend by Lovecraft. However it is Houdini's words. One that tells of his Houdini's real and dream experience in Egypt.
Having Lovecraft ghost write this experience seemed appropriate. Houdini being a de-functer of mystic and spiritual dogma. Lovecraft whose tales of dream worlds and mind boggling creations give validity to Houdini's experience.
Harry Houdini - Wikipedia
Lovecraft was a sickly introvert who died at the age of 46. His father was institutionalized when Howard was 3, dying five years later. His mother was also institutionalized leaving him to fend for himself.
Ironically Howerd Phillip Lovecraft was already reading and writing at the age of 3. He wrote his first story at the age of 7.
Although he was not publicly well known. He became a figurehead of a group of writers known as the Lovecraft circle. Containing a number of well known writers of that time period who helped him becomes less closed in.
He was poor most of his life. Barley making ends meet by ghost weighting for others.
He became more renowned after his death. Mainly because of the many writers he assisted and inspired. His influence has touched us all. Even if we are not aware of it.
I fully recommend taking a look at this prolific individual. If you find yourself wondering the dream-scape you may encounter the cities, worlds, charters and creatures. You may even meet this man who has passed to the next phase of existence.
