The Battle of Badr, fought in 624 CE, was Islam’s first major battle. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) led 313 faithful Muslims against a well-equipped Quraysh army of about 1,000 from Mecca. Despite being outnumbered, the Muslims fought bravely near the wells of Badr. Their unity, faith, and strategic brilliance turned the tide. Angels, as mentioned in the Qur’an, aided them. The Meccan leaders Abu Jahl and Umayyah ibn Khalaf were slain. Victory at Badr strengthened the Muslim community, affirmed divine support, and marked a turning point in Islamic history, establishing Islam’s power and Prophet Muhammad’s leadership.
