Austin, TX - Three suspects were arrested and another is still at large after an Austin police officer witnessed someone fire a gun from the moving vehicle early Sunday morning. The department released body camera footage of the moment the officer fired at the vehicle, injuring a 16-year-old passenger.

The officer-involved shooting occurred around 12:38 a.m. in the 9200 block of Parkfield Drive after Officer James McKinney saw a suspect shooting from the passenger side of a vehicle near Northgate Boulevard and Rundberg Lane, according to the Austin Police Department.

McKinney followed the vehicle to Parkfield Drive, where he exited his patrol car and identified himself as police as the vehicle slowed at a stop sign, APD said. As the vehicle began turning onto Quail Park Drive, McKinney fired two shots at it, police said. His overhead lights and siren were not activated at the time.

The vehicle was found a short time later in the 1200 block of Quailfield Circle, with the teen suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Charges against him are pending, police said.

Four suspects fled the vehicle on foot. Three were apprehended and charged with evading: Jose Aguirre-Guevara, 23, who faces a third-degree felony charge of evading in a motor vehicle; Doriah Joseph Almendares Santos, 17, charged with evading on foot; and a 14-year-old also charged with evading on foot. One suspect remains at large.

No victims were found at the initial shooting scene, though ballistic evidence was recovered, police said.
