More Like Him

In Ephesians Paul taught us what the purpose of the Church is. He told us it was for the work of the ministry, for the edifing the body of Christ. He told us it was needed until we all come to a unity of the faith and a knowledge of the Son of God. He told us these officers of the church were needed to help us to perfect our lives that we might become like the Savior, His measure, His stature, His fulness. Without the leadership of the church we would be like little children, tossed to and fro.

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine
