Edel Gillick speaks with Miriam Moriarty Owens, who — along with Mary Dunlevy and Greene Maurice Patton O’Connell — is on hunger strike outside Leinster House, the home of Dáil Éireann, Ireland’s lower house and principal seat of government.

Miriam explains that she, Mary, and Maurice are survivors of Ireland’s brutal industrial reform school system, and why they feel compelled to take such drastic action to highlight their ongoing injustice.

She also shares their experiences engaging with political bodies, past and present, and why they refuse to be pacified any longer by empty promises and sugar-coated words.
